Swimmer missing in the waters off Gulf Shores

2:07 PM Update: The missing swimmer has been identified but not located. He is 17-year-old Chaston Brown of Louisiana: WKRG.com.

A swimmer has gone missing off the Alabama Gulf Coast. The Associated Press reported a swimmer went missing in the water around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Gulf Shores Police Department tweeted that a dive team resumed their search around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Warnings from the National Weather Service offices in Mobile and Tallahassee have posted alerts to swimmers.

In addition to the rough surf, stormy weather is expected to continue for the next several days along the Gulf Coast states.

Forecasts from the National Weather Service in Mobile maintain an elevated risk of rip currents and hazardous conditions for the next several days.

    Why do ppl disregard the warnings about currents & tides & everything else & still go in the water? Prayers for this young boy but I’m afraid it’s too late for him to be found alive. Even a shark could have gotton to him! God bless his family too. I pray they find him.
