Hotter This Week

The 4th of July is almost here. Folks are making plans to grill out, watch fireworks, or possibly take the boat out on Lake Guntersville. Right now, there could be a few showers in the forecast. At this point, we aren’t expecting a big deal. The chance of rain is only in the 10%-20% range Friday into the evening. Details on that below. In the short-term, a few showers move through east Alabama this morning. Wet streets are possible in Jackson & DeKalb Counties this morning on the way to work. There could be slick spots as well in other parts of the area with rain overnight. The disturbance moves east away from us this morning.

The bigger story this morning are the hotter temperatures this week. Expect lower 90s today and middle 90s on Tuesday. Upper 80s to near 90 degree temperatures are likely the rest of the week with only an isolated shower or storm. Though our chances of rain are low, they could still pack a punch and drop a quick .25″-.50″ of rain on your lawn.

Rain Chances

There is a tropical disturbance to keep in eye on this week. It’s off Florida. Don’t expect any impacts along the Alabama beaches. Just a few rip currents along the Florida east coast, Georgia, and the Carolinas this week. We’ll see if it becomes a tropical storm later on.
