Slick Roads This Morning – Rain In the Forecast

Posted on: 3:58 am, February 14, 2014, by

Be careful out this morning with slick spots from melted snow. Walking from your house to the car and from your car through your work’s parking lot could be an adventure. Many of the roads are dry, but several spots are still slick. Secondary roads and shady spots that the sun couldn’t hit Thursday, could cause accidents this morning. Temperatures are below freezing for several locations. They should get above that mark by 9am.

The forecast calls for rain late this afternoon into the evening. If you have plans for Valentine’s Day this evening, take the umbrella. It will be warm enough for rain this time, but it could end as a brief period of light snow before ending early Saturday morning. No accumulation is expected. Here is our in-house model showing rain in the area around 8pm this evening.

Rain totals aren’t too impressive with this system tonight. Upwards of .25″-.50″ are expected. It helps melt the recent snowfall. Kids, get out this morning and enjoy the snow. It will likely be gone by the end of the weekend. Most of the Tennessee Valley is in the darker shade of green.

How about some warmer air? “Yes, please” says Alan from Henagar where 6″ of snow fell at his house. I think most of the area is ready for warmer temperatures. They are in the extended forecast. Saturday appears to be cooler, but Sunday into next weekend look very pleasant. Rain chances could be elevated by then, but we’ll watch it! Enjoy the warmer weather next week!
