Showers/Drizzle Linger – How Windy Did It Get Last Night?

Posted on: 9:59 am, December 22, 2013, by , updated on: 10:06am, December 22, 2013

After a stormy and windy night, things have calmed down significantly across the Tennessee Valley.  Some scattered showers continue mainly east of I-65 this morning, with the chance for a couple isolated, light showers remaining for the rest of the day.  Below is the latest radar image as of 9:50 am.

ArmorRadarSunshine is trying to break through in the Shoals (northwest Alabama), but expect clouds to hold strong for the rest of the day, with a few patches of drizzle possible into the afternoon as well.  Temperatures will not fluctuate much and will rise into the upper 50s, low to mid 60s this afternoon.

A few showers will be possible this evening and tonight, with colder air moving in with the passage of a cold front.  A raw, winter day can be expected Monday, with a blustery northwest wind ushering colder Arctic air, under a mainly cloudy sky.  High temperatures Monday afternoon will only reach the mid 40s.  Your Christmas week forecast looks dry, but cold, check it out on the WHNT Forecast Page.

It was incredibly windy last night, even before storms arrived, with non-thunderstorm wind gusts around 40 mph!  The National Weather Service in Huntsville has congealed all the highest peak wind gusts from last night, how windy did it get in your community?  Check it out below:
