Milder Night – Sprinkles/Showers Possible

Posted on: 8:33 pm, October 27, 2013, by , updated on: 10:19pm, October 27, 2013

A batch of sprinkles and generally light rain have been tracking east across north/central Alabama over the past few hours.  Right now the majority of the rain is east of I-65. Below is the latest radar image as of 8:25 pm.

Not all of the rain seen on radar today has been reaching the ground, thanks to drier air at the surface, but as our air mass continues to moisten and more rain moves in, more/if not all of it will.  Another round of sprinkles and rain will be moving into west Alabama during the next few hours.

Clouds and a light southerly breeze is slowing the cool down this evening, with many communities still in the low to mid 60s as of 8:00 pm.

The upper level low responsible for the rain and increase in cloud cover, will track east across the region tonight and early Monday.  This will continue the chance for more sprinkles and showers tonight and possibly during your Monday morning commute, it may be a good idea to set aside the rain gear for the little ones tonight, so it’s ready before they head to the bus stop in the morning.  The best chance for measurable rain into Monday morning will be along and south of Highway 278.  Clouds and rain will gradually clear in the afternoon as the disturbance pushes east, with thinning of the clouds and possibly some peeks of sunshine.  More on the rain potential for Halloween on the WHNT Forecast Page.
