Morning Fog – Steamy Weekend
It’s a very pleasant start across the Tennessee Valley. Temperatures are cooler as drier air filters in. Dewpoints hold in the lower to middle 60s. Not bad for the second day of August! Fog is an issue this morning with clearing skies and calm winds. Visibilities have fluctuated all morning with several spots below one mile. Scottsboro, Fort Payne, and Cullman report the denser fog. There could be issue in northern Madison County this morning coming in on 231/431 from Fayetteville.
Look at the highs from Thursday. Notice the big heat bubble over Oklahoma and Texas. They are under a ridge of high pressure and that same ridge sneaks eastward today, tomorrow and into Sunday allowing temperatures to soar into the lower to middle 90s. Saturday will be the hottest day of the weekend. Keep that in mind if you are going to be outside. Drink plenty of water and take breaks.
Here is a look at that upper level ridge.
I’m forecasting middle 90s on Saturday afternoon with only an isolated shower. The best chance of rain will be across southern middle Tennessee and northwest Alabama. Still no 100° days this year in the Tennessee Valley. He hit 97° one time in Huntsville.
