Here We Go Again…

I think we should change the name of the Cumberland Plateau in summertime to the Storm Plateau! Heavy storms have developed northwest of Shelbyville and Manchester this afternoon, and they’re spreading out in all directions. The heaviest storms are moving southwest toward an area of very unstable air in southern Tennessee and northern Alabama.

Storms are moving at that same, slow 10-20 MPH pace, so if you happen to get underneath one of them, you will get a good soaking along with some intense lightning and wind gusts in the 20-40 MPH range. A few of the stronger storms may produce winds near severe limits this afternoon (58 MPH) through downbursts/microbursts.

If things get as dicey as they did on Thursday evening, we’ll live blog it for you here so you can keep in touch!
