It’s a beautiful start to your Monday morning. Here was the sunrise from the Jack’s Camera Network from Downtown Florence. The sun came up around 5:46am. Expect another nice one Tuesday morning!
This morning we didn’t quite make to a record low. The record in Huntsville was 39° and the record for Muscle Shoals was 40°. The official lows were 42° for both locations. The reason for the cooler temperatures (68° on Sunday afternoon) and highs today in the lower 70s is a big trough of low pressure across the eastern United States. That trough lifts this week allowing warmer air to press northeastward to the Tennessee Valley. Here is the trough valid tonight at 11pm.
Once the trough lifts, the upper ridge brings warmer temperatures the rest of the week. Highs average at or above the seasonal normal Tuesday through the weekend. The average is 80°. Rain chances stay small all week! Thankfully it’s a relatively dry forecast as Huntsville has already exceeded its average monthly total for May! Huntsville averages 5.11″ and we’ve seen 5.51″.
