Near Record Low Temperatures Possible Tonight
After a beautiful, but unseasonably cool Mother’s Day, nearly ideal cooling conditions will result from mostly clear skies, light winds, and low humidity across the region overnight. Everyone will see an unusually chilly Monday morning, but many areas will have a good shot at dropping into the mid-to-upper 30’s by sunrise.
Climate Data for Monday Morning 5/13/2013
Muscle Shoals: Normal Low-58, Record Low-40
Huntsville: Normal Low-59, Record Low-39
Some patchy frost will be possible, especially in our usual cold pockets of the Northeastern Alabama/Southern Middle Tennessee high terrain areas and our sheltered valleys, but a widespread damaging frost is not expected. Further north, colder temperatures have warranted frost advisories and even freeze warnings.
After a chilly start to Monday, things turn out nice (unseasonably cool again, but nice) during the afternoon. We return to “normal” quickly, though. Check out the warm-up and rain chances discussed at WHNT’s forecast page.
