A cold-core upper-level low has been the feature of interest in our forecast for the past week, and it has been providing an inclement 24 hours for most of the Tennessee Valley. As of this update, most of the heavy rain has finally pushed east of the area, but lingering showers will remain for locations east of I-65.

The rain has been slow to clear the area thanks to a northwest movement of the showers. Even thous the rain has tapered, periods of mainly light rain will still be possible this evening.

Rainfall totals have been impressive in many locations over the past 24 hours. A few of these values will climb only slightly tonight, but more showers and storms are likely tomorrow. We’ll have more updates here at valleywx.com and the complete forecast at WHNT’s forecast page.
