Here’s a look at the specific chance of rain tonight through tomorrow evening; we are looking specifically at at least a half-inch of rain in a 6-hour period. This shows how the rain slowly moves east tonight through Saturday morning, but it also shows that we do expect a break by tomorrow afternoon:

First Friday in Florence: Expect falling temperatures this evening; we will drop from the low-70s at 4 PM to near 50 degrees after the sun goes down. It gets cooler and wetter as the night goes on; expect around an inch of rain by morning.

WhistleStop, The Dogwood Festival, and Derby Days Things look good for WhistleStop this evening in Downtown Huntsville and for the Dogwood Festival in Winchester. Temperatures will be in the 60s with a mostly cloudy sky through 10 PM. Rain showers start edging into Madison County by the time WhistleStop closes tonight, but Winchester should be dry.

Saturday looks much wetter early in the day for WhistleStop and for Madison’s Derby Days, but rain clears out of the Huntsville area between 11 AM and 1 PM leaving us with a chilly afternoon: highs in the 50s. Winchester looks wetter; rain may last through 4 to 6 PM for the Dogwood Festival with a temperature in the upper 40s almost all day long.

Talladega Weekend: Rain ends at the Talladega Superspeedway late Saturday morning, so while it will be cool (upper 50s/lower 60s) for the Nationwide Series race, it should be a “go” in the afternoon.

More rain is likely at the Speedway on Sunday; scattered showers and storms may become heavy at times. The race might be able to run, but there may be a delay or even a postponement.
