Unsettled This Week

Posted on: 3:57 am, February 11, 2013, by

We had locally heavy rain impact the region over the weekend and we aren’t done yet. Moisture moves out this morning, but it makes a return Tuesday. The regional satellite and radar shows another system gathering strength over Texas and Louisana this morning. Some of that energy heads our way Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Severe weather is unlikely, but pockets to moderate to heavy rainfall is possible with that system.

Here are the rainfall totals from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center valid through Thursday morning. Notice the Tennessee Valley doesn’t have as much precipitation as south Alabama. However, if the system is stronger and track further north, then heavier amounts are possible. Right now the heaviest rain is likely south of the Tennessee River.
