Much Colder Air Around the Corner
It’s not bad this morning with temperatures in the 30s. It will be up to 15° cooler Tuesday morning!
Just to the northwest, temperatures are close to zero if not below that.
Some of that arctic air spreads southeast late tonight and during Tuesday. Some of us especially across southern middle Tennessee dip into the teens. If you are in Pulaski, Fayetteville over to Huntland and Winchester, middle teens are possible. Upper teens are possible for northern Madison County around Meridianville. For Huntsville to the Shoals expect lows around 20. Lower to middle 20s for Sand Mountain. With winds up to 10 mph, wind chills dip to near 10° for some Tuesday morning.
Here is the 850 MB temperature/thickness for Tuesday around noon. The blue, red, and pink show very cold air in the upper atmosphere spreading south and east. That “dip” in the jetstream allows cold air to funnel southeastward. Long range models may bring moe cold air in by next weekend!
