More to Come!
Has there ever been a prettier Friday? Temperatures have warmed to near 50º this afternoon over most of the Tennessee Valley. These are the 3 PM observations:
The sun is going to stay with us for a while! This weekend’s temperatures will warm up significantly from what we’ve been dealing with: middle (and a few upper) 50s will be common Saturday and Sunday. See WHNT.com/Weather for the discussion and how things are going to take another turn for the colder next week.
The ensembles are telling us it won’t be historic cold, but it could be some of the coldest temperatures we’ve had in the past 24 months:
Right now, we are forecasting highs in the 40s on Monday, lows between 15 and 20 on Tuesday morning, and a high on Tuesday near 35º in Huntsville; however some of the higher elevations east of US 231 may hover around 28-32º all day with a howling north wind.
This round of cold weather comes in dry and stays dry; there is no significant risk of wintry weather in the next 7-10 days.
Enjoy the weekend! We’ll worry about the cold on Monday.
By the way, that cover photo was from the corner of Ripley and Shaw Roads on the west side of Athens!
