Strong Line of Storms Just Entering Northwest Alabama – Damage in Mobile
Waking up to high wind gusts? A potent storm system with a lot of wind energy is approaching the TN Valley this morning. A Wind Advisory is in effect until Friday morning. Sustained wind of 25 mph possible, with gusts as high as 35-40 mph. Widespread showers have been occurring across the region over the past several hours, with a strong line of currently non-severe storms just moving into Northwest Alabama.
This line of storms is capable of producing brief 45-50+mph wind gusts, heavy rain and maybe a rumble of thunder, but the severe threat remains low and mainly to the south of North Alabama. A Tornado Watch is currently in effect for much of central and southern Alabama and Mississippi until 12:00 pm.
Damage has been reported around the Mobile area this morning, with a report of a tornado approximately seven miles east of the mobile airport just before 5:00 am, with reports of damage and power outages. Injuries are unknown at this time and it has been reported that there is no damage at the Mobile Airport as of this time.
