Graupel Pictures

We had some “weird” weather move through the Tennessee Valley Wednesday afternoon.

Here are pictures from Judy Beatty in Limestone County of graupel on her patio and sidewalk. Graupel is frozen precipitation that has a different shape than sleet or snow. It forms when supercooled water (water still in liquid form below 32°) combines with snowflakes in the atmosphere.
