The Next 24 Hours – Friday

Posted on: 9:45 pm, October 25, 2012, by

We have been waiting for this day to arrive for quite some time; almost two weeks ago, we started talking about some very cool air that would come south during the last few days of October. The cold front leading the charge will bring in some clouds and a few spotty light showers by Friday afternoon and evening. Most of our high school football games will be dry; in fact, we have dropped the chance of rain down to only 10% through Friday night and Saturday morning.

It will be a breezy day around here! A south-southwest wind ahead of the front will come in around 10-20 MPH on average, and behind the front it could be even gustier than that in The Shoals by mid-afternoon. With a cold front moving in, it will not be a “one number” forecast for the Tennessee Valley on Friday. Colder air moving into Northwest Alabama and western Middle Tennessee will knock temperatures down into the 60s by early afternoon while Huntsville, Sand, Lookout and Brindlee Mountains are in the 70s.

Here’s a look at 5 PM Temperatures based on the latest Futurecast from WHNT News 19:

Behind the front, the wind will be gusty all evening from the northwest at 10-20 MPH with some 25-30 MPH gusts. A chill will start setting in for high school football, and there is a minimal chance of a shower.
