8:50 PM Update
Numerous tornado warnings are in progress across North Mississippi and Southwest Tennessee; you can watch streaming coverage from our sister station WREG in Memphis here: WREG.com.
These storms are moving east at 40 to 50 MPH, so we are going to adjust our time of arrival slightly for the Tennessee Valley. Storms will move into the Shoals just before midnight and blow through the entirety of the Tennessee Valley by 4 AM (likely sooner than that).
The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the SLIGHT RISK area to include most of the Tennessee Valley WEST of Interstate 65 through the wee hours of Thursday morning. We still expect a weakening TREND as the storms move through the Valley tonight; however, that does not mean there is no threat whatsoever. Be alert tonight by keeping your NOAA weather radio or your mobile apps like Live Alert 19, iMap Weather Radio and MyWarn in a position so that they can warn you. (Live Alert 19 is an app that we can send messages over, but we do not send individual warnings.)
Be sure to join us for WHNT News 19 at 9 and 10; you can always watch those streaming on WHNT.com!
