Rain on the Way!

Posted on: 5:43 pm, October 11, 2012, by

We’ve been watching some showers all day as they moved across West Tennessee and North Mississippi; as of 5:30 PM, there is one thunderstorm in NE Mississippi with some occasional thunder & lightning, and that is the kind of thing we will be looking for later tonight through Friday morning.

A bigger batch of showers and a few thunderstorms will move south of I-40 through Middle Tennessee after 3 AM, and that will move through North Alabama between 3 AM and 10 AM. Most communities will see less than a quarter-inch of rain; however, there is potential that a few heavier downpours, and some of those could give us about 0.75″ to 1.00″ of rain in some spots mainly north of the Tennessee River.

Here’s the Futurecast precipitation forecast through tomorrow afternoon; yellow indicates total precipitation around 1 inch. Lighter greens show totals less than a quarter of an inch.

This rain will be gone in time for high school football, and by the way, we’ve got a few specific game forecasts for the Tennessee Valley along with all of the Football Friday information you need to know posted at WHNT.com/Football Friday!
