A Chilly Start With Some Fog… Increasing Rain Chances

Temperatures dropped into the low 40′s across most of the Tennessee Valley overnight, with some of our usual cold spots such as Winchester, TN, Crossville, Ft. Payne, and Valley Head falling into the mid to upper 30′s. There was still enough moisture in place for low clouds and some fog to develop, especially near bodies of water and low lying areas in our eastern counties. The thickest reports of fog have been coming in from DeKalb County.

As the sun continues to warm the ground, the clouds and fog will gradually break apart and allow for a mostly sunny Thursday.

Most of Thursday should be mainly sunny and dry with highs only topping out around 70. Showers are developing to our west and some rain may affect the area later this afternoon, but the best chances for rain will be overnight through part of the day Friday.

A warming trend and more rain is in the extended forecast. You can find everything you need to know about the week ahead and information about the chance for severe weather in Columbia, MO for the Alabama game on Saturday at WHNT’s forecast page.
