Cloudy To Start – Then Clearing
It was a milder start to Wednesday compared to yesterday morning, especially around the Shoals where temperatures averaged about 20 degrees warmer than yesterday! Clouds moved in overnight ahead of a cold front that will move through later today. Thanks to the clouds, temperatures have been slow to warm up this morning and as of 9:00 am are in the 50s and low 60s.
The cold front will move southeast across the Tennessee Valley, with gradual clearing of the clouds from west to east. No rain is expected as the front moves through because the current air mass in place is so dry. Behind the front a reinforcing shot of cooler and drier air will move into the region. Below is a regional image of the satellite and radar just after 9:30 am.
Tonight will be chilly as the sky becomes mostly clear. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 30s and low 40s. Some patchy frost may be possible, especially farther north, in southern middle Tennessee. A Frost Advisory has already been issued for Giles, Lawrence and Wayne counties in Tennessee from 3:00 am through 8:00 am tomorrow morning. After the cold start, highs will warm to around 70 degrees, with a warming trend into the weekend.
