Windy & Cold!
A strong cold front continues to move east-southeast across the Tennessee Valley and is currently located in northeast Alabama. Check out the temperature gradient across the area!
This isn’t just a significant cool down for the Tennessee Valley, check out the much of the northern half of the country west of the of the Great Lakes in the 20s and 30s this morning!
High temperatures for today have already been reached for many and with some experiencing their highs for the day over the next hour or two still ahead of the front. A breezy and gusty at times northwesterly wind will continue to usher in a much drier and colder air mass behind the front. Therefore don’t expect much of a warm up this afternoon, temperatures will likely remain in the 50s through the afternoon, which will range around 25-30 degrees cooler than yesterday afternoon! So keep your jackets and coats handy, you will need them today!
There have been scattered showers and a couple storms along and just behind the front, though earlier storms have weakened and now just showers remain. The bulk of the rain will be off to our south and east by this afternoon, with just a stray, light shower and drizzle possible through the rest of the day.
Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy, with a northerly breeze as temperatures cool into the mid 40s. Another disturbance will move over the region tonight and early tomorrow, with a spotty shower possible. but most will stay dry. Sunday will be another cool day with highs only warming into the low 60s, with a chance for an isolated shower. Clouds will still hang around tomorrow with a partly cloudy, to mostly cloudy sky.
Another disturbance will move over the area, late Sunday and into Monday, with another chance for isolated showers. Finally, high pressure will build in Monday afternoon and will dry and clear us out! A slow warming trend will persist through the middle of the upcoming work week.
