Showers Starting To Move Into Northwest Alabama
Light showers are starting to move into northwest Alabama. Showers will continue to slowly move into the Tennessee Valley and spread northeast throughout the day. Below is a look at the regional satellite and radar, with the heavier rain just to our southwest in north/central Mississippi.
Showers will be more numerous this evening and overnight, generally a light to moderate, steady rain, with some locally heavy downpours possible. As the low pressure center moves closer to the Tennessee Valley on Monday and with daytime heating, there is the possibility for a strong or severe storm. Though depending on the coverage of clouds and rain, instability could be limited. Currently the Storm Prediction Center has practically the entire state of Alabama in a Slight Risk for severe storms tomorrow. Below is the SPC Day 2 Convective Outlook.
Despite the possibility for a stronger storm, the main concern will continue to be heavy rain. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, rainfall totals could range between 1-3″, with locally higher amounts. Use extreme caution when driving over the next couple of days, because there will likely be some ponding on the roadways and potentially minor flooding.
