Sunday Evening Update – Rain Chances Increasing Tonight/Tomorrow
A few showers have made their way into Northwest Alabama and Southern Tennessee. The highest chance for rain through the evening hours will continue to be in areas west of I-65 with showers primarily of the light, hit-and-miss variety.
High and mid-level clouds over spread the Tennessee Valley, in advance of the approaching upper-level disturbance, but enough sun managed to break through for many areas to see temperatures climb into the mid-80′s.
As is often the case, an increase in cirrus clouds (those wispy high thin clouds made of ice crystals) means rain is on the way. Rain chances will climb through tonight and peak tomorrow afternoon, lingering through at least part of the day on Tuesday thanks to the disturbance’s slow movement.
Many areas will see a high probability of a good soaking before the rain ends on Tuesday. Here is the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center’s latest two accumulated rainfall forecast.
