Slow Improvement In Weather Today
It is a mild and very muggy morning across the Tennessee Valley, with another cloudy start. Fog has been reported in many areas and will continue to lift within the next hour or so. Below are 8:00 am temperatures across the area.
As the remnant low of Isaac continues to slowly move east of the Tennessee Valley, gradual improving conditions are expected today. Expect slow clearing of clouds from west to east today, with northwest Alabama seeing the most sunshine and therefore will have warmer temperatures possibly reaching into the low 90s. Farther east, with clouds clearing slower, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s. Below is the satellite and radar image as of 8:10 am.
There is a chance for a few showers today, with the best chance being east of I-65. Despite the remnant circulation of Isaac finally pushing east, there will continue to at least be a chance for isolated showers and storms with a couple disturbances passing overhead through the rest of the work week. Temperatures will range in the low to mid 90s for most Wednesday through Friday. With the current tropical air mass in place, heat indices will be around 100 degrees, especially Thursday and Friday. As we head into the weekend, a strong cold front is forecast to approach and move through the Tennessee Valley on Saturday, increasing the chance for scattered showers and storms. Behind this system, much cooler air will filter into the region, giving us an early taste of Fall. Check out the five day temperature trend!
