Heavy Tropical Rain and Storms

A few Severe Thunderstorm Warnings remain in effect at 7:40 PM: Cullman County and Marshall County in North Alabama. Strong storms producing wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH, heavy rainfall (exceeding 2-5″ per hour), and frequent lightning are likely in these storms. Each cell is moving ESE at about 25-35 MPH.

DAMAGE REPORTS:

After numerous tornado warnings earlier this evening, we do have some wind damage reports rolling in:

NWS HUN: ESE Decatur [Morgan Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 05:05 PM CDT — a tree was reported down on a residence.

NWS HUN: 1 SSW Huntsville [Madison Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 05:37 PM CDT — power lines reported down.

NWS HUN: 4 NW Owens Crossroads [Madison Co, AL] law enforcement reports TSTM WND DMG at 05:43 PM CDT — a tree was was blown.

NWS HUN: 3 WSW Huntsville [Madison Co, AL] amateur radio reports TSTM WND DMG at 05:38 PM CDT — power poles reported down

NWS HUN: 1 SSW Huntsville [Madison Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 05:55 PM CDT — power lines reported down.

NWS HUN: ENE Elkmont [Limestone Co, AL] trained spotter reports TSTM WND DMG at 04:00 PM CDT — power lines and branches 2 to 3 inches in diameter reported down.

NWS HUN: 3 E Killen [Lauderdale Co, AL] trained spotter reports TSTM WND GST of E60 MPH at 03:09 PM CDT — estimated wind gust of 60mph near us 72 and cr 31

NWS HUN: 2 ESE Cherokee [Colbert Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 03:40 PM CDT — a tree was blown down on barnes lane and old lee highway.

NWS HUN: 6 ESE Cherokee [Colbert Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 03:25 PM CDT — a tree was blown down.

DeKalb Co. EMA: Tree down reported on County rd 107 near the water tower. Dogtown FD has been notified

DeKalb Co. EMA: Tree down on County Road 36 near Geraldine School. Geraldine fire has been notified. also, Tree down involving a power line on County Rd 498 just off County rd 715. Henagar FD has been notified. Currently checking a report of a tree (or limb) on Hwy 117 near Tutwiller Gap.
