Thursday: Warm & Humid, Storms Possible

Isaac is a low end tropical storm as of the 7:00AM update from the National Hurricane Center with winds of 45mph ( 39mph is the threshold for tropical storm force), moving slowly northwest at 8mph.

Isaac should pick up speed and continue to weaken over the next 24 hours as it heads north-northwest, keeping most of its effects away from the Tennessee Valley.

One impact we are seeing and will continue to see from this storm today is increased cloud cover and very humid conditions.

All this moisture will lead to the possibility of thunderstorms today, especially during the afternoon hours, although we are not expecting a washout, and rain chances are not guaranteed in every area. Showers will likely taper after sunset, but rain gear will be a good idea for any Thursday night football games.

We are also expecting very breezy conditions with wind gusts as high as 25 to 30mph in areas west of I-65.
