Isaac Update – 10 PM Saturday Night
Isaac is still slowly moving through the waters north of Cuba, eventually heading toward the Florida Keys.
The National Hurricane Center’s official forecast track is now shifting west to come in line with increasing model agreement for landfall in the Western Florida Panhandle, Mobile Bay, Southern Mississippi region. The most important thing about the graphic below is to not focus on the forecast track itself, but the cone of uncertainty that surrounds it.
This means a better shot of rainy conditions for us during the middle to latter half of next week. The forecast will still be fine-tuned moving forward, but it appears rain chances may begin increasing as early as early Wednesday and peak on Thursday. If the storm center moves west of the Tennessee Valley, that would put us on the right side of the system, which generally has the strongest winds. With that scenario, we could see wind gusts to 40mph on Thursday if Isaac is still a tropical system.
