Radar Update – 3:30 AM

Heavy thunderstorms continue affect some areas- mainly Cullman and Morgan counties- but the bulk of the line that woke much of the Tennessee Valley up this morning has fallen apart. In the wake of the complex is light to moderate stratiform rain with occasional lightning. This steady rain will likely slowly fade over several hours.

This ongoing activity may play a role in how widespread and how strong afternoon showers and storms will be. If we can get some areas to clear out, the atmosphere will have a chance to destabilize and strong to severe storms may develop ahead of an approaching pulse of energy. The main threat today, if we do see severe weather, will be some strong winds and hail.
