Friday Morning Update – More Storms Possible

The heavy thunderstorms that so rudely awoke much of the Tennessee Valley this morning have now pushed well south, and the lingering light rain we’ve been seeing in the recent hours is now fading away.

Now, our attention is on a cold front to our northwest and an upper-level lobe of energy, both of which are moving toward the Tennessee Valley. As these features move closer through the day, our rain chances will once again climb. Showers and thunderstorms are already forming in the vicinity of the front in Eastern Arkansas.

The clouds and cooler temperatures left by our morning rain may inhibit our instability somewhat today thus limiting our severe potential, but if we can get some clearing in the region we will have a chance to see another round of strong thunderstorms. Some of these storms may produce some strong winds and/or hail, although we are not anticipating widespread damaging weather.
