The Next 24 Hours – Tuesday

Posted on: 9:40 pm, August 13, 2012, by

A weak cool front will slide through the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday, and there is a good chance we will see some scattered showers and storms as it does so. Many communities that got rain on Monday will miss out on the Tuesday rain, though!

Monday’s Rainfall Totals:
Huntsville: 1.57″
Park City (Lincoln Co., TN): 1.35″
Priceville: 1.24″
Union Hill (Morgan Co.): 1.04″
Green Hill (Lauderdale Co.): 0.94″
Scottsboro: 0.81″
Ripley (Limestone County): 0.64″
Prospect (Giles Co., TN): 0.61″
Florence: 0.46″
Cullman: 0.43″
Arab: 0.35″

Overnight showers and storms (the few that actually occur) may linger through mid-morning; the best chance of rain by Tuesday afternoon will be near Sand and Lookout Mountains and points southeast through eastern Alabama and western Georgia. The wind will shift to the northwest around 10 to 15 MPH by early afternoon, and drier air will take the humidity down a few notches.
