A Great Night for a Meteor Shower!

Posted on: 10:34 pm, August 11, 2012, by

Clear skies, light winds, and low humidity will lead to an unseasonably cool night by August standards and nearly ideal conditions for viewing the Perseid meteor shower.

The meteor rate should begin ramping after 11pm and continue through the early morning hours. You’ll want to look toward the Perseus constellation- that’s in the northeast sky. The best setting for sky-watching is away from the light pollution of cites and towns. Also, with temperatures likely dropping into the 50′s, those cold-natured folks may be more comfortable in long sleeves.
