Thursday Morning Update – Scattered Thunderstorms Likely

Posted on: 7:32 am, August 9, 2012, by

We’ve already seen a couple of isolated heavy thunderstorms, but more widespread showers with embedded thunderstorms are spreading into the Tennessee Valley as an upper-level disturbance moves across the area.

This disturbance will bring increasing chances for showers and storms throughout the day today with a possibility of a few strong to severe cells. The main threat today would be strong winds. Not everyone is guaranteed to see rain today, but odds are good that a thunderstorm will be nearby at some point.

A cold-front will bring more rain chances for at least part of the day on Friday before it moves southeast of our area and ushers in drier, cooler air, setting the stage for a pleasant weekend.
