Afternoon Update

Posted on: 2:28 pm, August 9, 2012, by

A number of heavy thunderstorms have rumbled across the eastern part of the Tennessee Valley; some communities around Geraldine and Lakeview in DeKalb County have seen as much as 2-3 inches of rain since 10 AM. Many others have had sprinkles or nothing at all.

Through the rest of the afternoon, showers and storms will continue moving east through parts of Madison, Marshall, DeKalb, Etowah, Cherokee, Jackson, Franklin (TN) and Marion (TN) Counties.

Rain Chances through the Evening:

Radar at 2:20 PM

A few isolated showers and storms will be possible over the rest of the Tennessee Valley mainly after 6 PM this evening, but there is a better chance of rain and some thunderstorms around on Friday as a cool front moves into the Tennessee Valley. Just like today, some will get a soaking while others get very little!

A quarter of an inch up to another inch of rain is possible through tomorrow evening, after that, the weekend is looking great! WHNT.com Weather has the full weekend forecast.
