Storms Approaching

Posted on: 11:09 am, August 5, 2012, by

Late this morning a line of storms has intensified over the past 45 minutes just northwest of the Shoals, in Hardin and Wayne counties in southern Tennessee.  More isolated storms have also developed across the northern half of Lawrence, Giles and counties north in southern middle Tennessee.  These storms are slowly drifting westward.  Expect more development throughout the day as a cold front approaches from the northwest.  Locally heavy rain and frequent lightning are possible with stronger storms.  Cloud cover is limiting warming and lowering instability, but a severe storm cannot be ruled out today due to high wind or hail.  Below is an image of Armor Storm Vision Radar just after 11:00 am.
