Rest of Tonight – Clearing Skies, But A Small Storm Chance

Posted on: 10:04 pm, July 29, 2012, by

Showers and storms fired up to our northwest today and moved into Kentucky and Tennessee, driven by a northwest to southwest flow in the upper-level winds. These showers dissolved as they moved into Southern Middle Tennessee, and the only impacts we saw were in the form of high clouds leftover from the rain.

A few more thunderstorms may try to develop again to the northwest of the Tennessee Valley during the overnight hours, and there’s a chance some storms may affect the area tonight. Most of the area should remain dry, though and temperatures will likely fall into the upper 60′s in most areas.

This northwest flow pattern will keep periodic thunderstorm chances in the forecast through the workweek. Some severe weather will be possible in the form of strong winds with the next threat beginning Monday evening. You can check out the full forecast on WHNT’s forecast page.
