Hot & Less Humid
Sunday started off on the pleasant side, with morning lows ranging in the mid to upper 60s for most, below average for morning lows for late July. The reason we had lower temperatures this morning, is in part due to slightly drier air that has been filtering into the Tennessee Valley behind a weak cool front that moved through yesterday. Drier air heats and cools more efficiently than more moist air. The combination of a calm wind and a nearly clear sky overnight, along with the drier, also helped temperatures cool into the 60s. Below is a look at the 6:00 am morning temperatures and how low some locations cooled to and the forecast surface map from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center for early this afternoon.
Even though this morning was cooler start than yesterday, the somewhat drier air in place will allow temperatures to heat up more rapidly and limit cloud development. It will also be less muggy outside and therefore more comfortable. Expect a mostly sunny sky and dry conditions for your Sunday. Highs will be above average this afternoon and warm mainly into the mid 90s. Enjoy the last Sunday of July!
