More Rain Through the Afternoon
Another good soaking rain set in this morning, and there are no signs of it letting up anytime soon. A weak surface low has developed along a stalled front nearby, and as it slowly moves northeast through this evening, rain and a few isolated thunderstorms will continue to keep it wet around here.
As of 11 AM, Muscle Shoals has 0.53″ on the day, and Huntsville has added 0.78″ since midnight. Another 0.25″ to 0.75″ of rain is possible before the day is over.
Widespread rain will gradually taper off later this evening, but some scattered showers will hang around even after midnight. The chance of rain will come down a little on Friday, and with fewer showers, temperatures will warm back into the lower and middle 80s.
There is still a chance of some scattered showers and a few storms (mainly in the afternoons) through the weekend; here’s the latest precipitation forecast over the next 3 days from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center. The heaviest rain will shift north into Middle Tennessee by Friday afternoon.
