Severe Weather Threat Shifting West This Afternoon
The greatest potential for severe storms this afternoon and evening will be over Northwest Alabama, West Tennessee, and North Mississippi. The Storm Prediction Center will likely issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch shortly due to the explosive nature of the storms moving through The Shoals now:
These storms are moving SOUTHWEST very slowly, but they have potential for gusty winds over 60 MPH, hail, torrential rain, and frequent lightning.
Some storm reports from the Florence Area:
4 N Florence [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 02:15 PM CDT — several reports of damage across northern and eastern outskirts of the city of florence. damage includes power lines down along chisholm road…partial roof damage to wilson school…and trees of unknown size down along county road 17. time estimated via radar.
NE Cloverdale [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 01:58 PM CDT — emergency manager reproted numerous trees down of unknown size down at the intersection of county road 8 and county road 157. time estimated via radar.
VIA NWS HUNTSVILLE: Have received multiple reports of wind damage in the east FLorence including trees down and part of a roof blown off of Wilson School in eastern portions of Florence.
