Early Afternoon Update – Seasonably Warm, A Few Showers Possible

From Meteorologist Brandon Chambers (1:15PM):

Surface high pressure, centered over the northeast, is bringing in mild, somewhat dry, air into the Tennessee Valley off the higher elevations. This will allow for a seasonably warm afternoon across the area with progressively warmer temperatures the further west you go.

There will be enough heat and moisture in place for the possibility of pop-up thunderstorms. The most likely areas to see showers will be in northwestern Alabama/Southern Middle Tennessee, where the airmass is a bit more humid. Any storms that fire will likely be brief with severe weather not expected.

I would put the rain chance at 20% for the Shoals and Southern Middle Tennessee and about 10% elsewhere.

Hot, mainly dry weather is ahead for the Tennessee Valley. Check out the full forecast at WHNT’s Forecast Page.
